The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), also known as the Match, released residency results last month. Graduating medical school students, who will advance to residency programs and gain more hands-on experience in a specific specialty, found out where they would spend the next three to seven years. The process of securing a residency begins months in advance for students who participated in virtual interviews this past fall with representatives from their programs of interest. At the end of the interview season, students and residencies submitted their top choices to the NRMP, which uses an algorithm to make the best possible match for both applicants and programs.

We would like to congratulate the MSIH Class of 2022 on matching into their specialties of choice!  The most popular residency matches for this year’s class were internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics/gynecology. Students also matched in specialties such as anesthesiology and neurology.

MSIH students matched at medical centers across North America, including at Brown University/Kent Hospital, UMass Chan, SUNY Upstate Medical Center, NYMC-Metropolitan Hospital Center, University of Maryland Medical Center, Spectrum Health/Michigan State University, New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and Oregon Health & Science University. The average match rate for the last 5 years at MSIH was over 90%, with many students matching to their first or second choice of residency.

Graduates of the MSIH Class of 2022 will bring their values and skills to the nation’s best medical programs as they pursue the next phase in their careers. Congratulations!
