As you develop your expertise in medicine and global health, you’ll benefit from MSIH’s comprehensive elective and residency planning support. Our staff will be there to guide you throughout each step of your search. We provide a path to U.S. residency with placements parallel to those at top U.S. medical schools. The graduating class of 2017 achieved a match rate of 90%.
During your third year at MSIH, you’ll meet with faculty in one-on-one and group sessions to identify the elective courses and residency programs you wish to pursue. An elective coordinator in the New York office will assist you in processing elective applications at affiliate programs. We’ll also help you begin the registration and certification processes, including recommended visa applications for students who plan to apply for residencies outside of their home country.
In this year, you’ll take the United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2, CK (Clinical Knowledge) and CS (Clinical Skills). At this time, MSIH will prepare documentation for your Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) application, including your Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE or dean’s letter), transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
During the first half of your fourth year, while taking electives in North America, you will complete interviews for residency and submit your Rank Order List to ERAS. In January, you’ll travel to a resource-scarce country for your global health clerkship, returning to Israel in March — just in time for The Match and to complete fourth-year selective rotations.
